The shop opened in 1971 and has since been a haven for fans of the fantasy genre. It quickly gained a unique status as a meeting place for enthusiasts, where you could not only buy items but also gather and share interests. As time went on, the selection expanded, and role-playing games and board games became an important part of the store’s offerings early on.

Today, the shop sells comics, books, games, merchandise, and films. In the 1970s and 1980s, Fantask was one of the few places in Denmark where you could find American comics and niche literature, and it therefore played an important role in spreading these genres in the country. The shop has also been visited by several major international names from the comic world, including Will Eisner, Stan Lee, and Carl Barks, who have all stopped by for signings and events.
